Biography
Fred W. Golgart has been a member of the Ancient and Heroic Order of the Gordian Knot since 2010, was appointed to the Indiana Grand Officer line in 2016, and proudly received the lifetime appointment as Supreme Grand Officer on July 30, 2022.
Fred is a US Army Veteran, 1966 to 1969 and served in Vietnam, 1968-1969, with over 550 combat missions. He retired in 2000 after a 26 1/2 year law enforcement career from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department were he spent 10 years as Rangemaster & Chief Firearms Instructor. He has been providing body armor and the thinnest & lightest weight rifle plates in the world to Police, Fire, & the EMS community for over 13 years and through his company, LITE Tactical Solutions, LLC.
Fred’s masonic career started in 1986 in Centre Lodge No. 23, transferring to New Palestine Lodge No. 404 in 2004 where he is a twice Past Master, current Secretary since 2017 & life member of the Fraternity. He was the founding Secretary of Noble Masonic Lodge No. 772 in 2017 where is is also a life member. He is a member of Schofield Lodge 1818 U.D., life member of the Scottish Rite since 1986, member of the York Rite since 1987, in the Officer line of the Indianapolis Preceptor #4 and Knight Yeoman of York, life member of the Murat Shrine where he was Parade Marshal for 4 years, member of the Police Club and Police Club Motorcycle Drill Team as Past President & Commander, Murat Yacht Club member, life member of the Legion of Honor, and is also in the Officer line of the Grand Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill.
Fred is the 2022 President of National Sojourners Indianapolis – Ft Harrison Chapter #66 and Chief of Staff of the Lew Wallace – Tippecanoe Camp of Heroes of ’76 and the Indiana & Kentucky Regional Rep for National Sojourners since 2020. He is a Charter Member in Perpetuity and Charter Chief of Staff of the Sammy Lee Davis Camp, Heroes of ’76 – Night Stalkers Chapter # 567.
Fred has been honored with a number of Honorary Memberships to numerous Lodges as well as taken a number of the fun degrees of Masonry. He enjoys speaking to various groups about the Best Kept Secret in Indiana because of his association as a Director with the Indiana War Memorials Foundation Board and has been happily married to Debra since 1991 and have 5 children and 3 Grandchildren.
